Hospice of the Wabash Valley presents Camp Linden Tree

Friday and Saturday
October 3-4, 2008

Hospice of the Wabash Valley has provided Camp Linden Tree's Day Camp for the past eight years. The Day Camp has been quite successful in its pursuit of helping children and teens better cope with their grief related to the death of a loved one by providing an opportunity to address their memories, their feelings and how they cope.

We have realized, though, that the entire family unit is affected by a death, and the family may grow more healthy with intervention and education. We hope that this camp plays a role in developing healthy coping skills in families of the Wabash Valley.

Mission Statement

Camp Linden Tree is designed as a camp experience for children and families in the Hospice of the Wabash Valley service area. A safe, structured environment will be provided in which families experience and learn skills for coping and healing.

2 Camp Choices

Family Camp
This is an overnight camp from Friday night through Saturday afternoon for campers ages 7-17 accompanied by an adult. Adults and children will be sleeping overnight in cabins with bunk beds. Bring bedding, towels, toiletries, clothing, bug repellant, etc.

  2. To provide children and parents/guardians who have experienced the death of a loved one with an opportunity to meet in a safe and confidential environment, and to share with others who have had similar experiences.
  3. To teach children and parents/guardians alternative coping mechanisms in order that the family unit may function at its most healthy level.
  4. TO HAVE FUN!!

The Linden Tree

The Linden Tree can grow up to 100 feet in height, has a straight trunk and usually grows "heart-shaped." It is often called the "Resurrection Tree" because it regenerates itself. The Linden Tree is a symbol of growth, versatility, change and strength, characteristics which often emerge in persons who experience the death of a loved one.
