UNION HOSPITAL ASTHMA PROGRAM

Asthma Education and Prevention Program

Union Hospital provides asthma education by certified asthma educators. So what is a certified asthma educator? An AE-C is an expert in teaching, educating and counseling individuals with asthma and their families in the knowledge and skills necessary to minimize the impact of asthma on their quality of life.

The AE-C certification is the official designation of a certified asthma educator who has necessary knowledge and skills to counsel patients in asthma management and has successfully passed the NAECB exam. It is an evaluation process that demonstrates that rigorous education and experience requirements have been met. Currently there are 2,000 certified asthma eductors nationwide.
