Behavioral Healthcare/Neuropsychology
The psychologist on a rehab unit is specially trained in medical issues and neuropsychology. After a disabling illness or injury, there may be disruptions in cognition (thinking), emotions and behavior. Individual and family therapies are available.
The psychologist:
- may provide specialized neuropsychological testing if cognitive (thinking) problems are present.
- will assess your cognitive, emotional and behavioral condition and treat problems as necessary.
- may provide direct education to you and your family.
- will make recommendations to the team.
- may provide other specialized services such as psychophysiological retraining and cognitive rehabilitation.
