-Women, Infant, & Children Nutrition Program-

"HEALTHY BABIES ARE OUR JOB"

The Women, Infants, and Children's Program, WIC is a special supplemental food and nutrition program for women, infants, and children, available to ALL eligible participants without regard to race, color, religion, natural origin, age, sex, or disability. The Maternal Health Clinic is a WIC enrollment site for pregnant women who are not already receiving WIC services.

Those eligible for WIC include:

  • Pregnant women
  • Breastfeeding mothers (up to one year after delivery)
  • Postpartum non-breastfeeding mothers (up to six months after delivery)
  • Infants
  • Children under five years of age

WICWIC participants receive checks which can be redeemed for specified nutritious foods at designated grocery stores. WIC participants also receive nutrition education, nutrition counseling, and referral to other health and social services.

All persons who receive Medicaid, food stamps, and TANF are income-eligible for WIC.

To participate in the WIC program a person must meet the following conditions:

  • Live within a WIC services area
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Have nutritional needs

The WIC program provides AT NO COST to those who qualify:

  • Foods high in nutritional value
  • Nutrition classes and individual counseling
  • Referrals to health care providers and other helpful services, if needed

Those who participate in the first Centering Pregnancy Group session meet one of the required WIC educational sessions.
