Services

Services available to expectant mothers and families through Union Hospital's Maternal Health Clinic include:

  • Free pregnancy testing
  • Complete prenatal care with delivery at Union Hospital's OB Unit and post partum care after delivery
  • Centering Pregnancy Group visit approach to prenatal care options
  • Sonograms and ultrasounds performed at The Maternal Health Clinic
  • WIC enrollment and nutritional counseling
  • Lactation support
  • Doula services (labor support coach) upon request
  • Social service assistance with Medicaid application, transportation, and referral to other agencies such as The Helping Hands and WIC programs
  • Prenatal education through individual instruction and group discussion in a program called Centering Pregnancy
  • Smoking cessation counseling (upon completion of a class one morning a week for 6 weeks a free car seat is given)
  • PSUPP (Prenatal Substance Use Prevention Program); help to release addictions
  • Access to Union Hospital's prenatal and breastfeeding classes
  • Birth control methods and counseling provided following delivery
  • Bilingual assistance available by our Spanish speaking provider
  • Sliding fee scale and prepayment plan with discount for those without financial assistance

Nurse Midwifery
Certified Nurse Midwives, our newest expansion of the Maternal Health Clinic, can provide preconception care, prenatal care, labor and delivery, gynecological exams, assistance with family planning, menopausal management, counseling in health maintenance, and disease prevention. Care for nonpregnant women is provided at our Maple Center office in Suite 600, (812) 235-4867.

servicesIncentive Program
We also have developed an incentive program to foster healthy behaviors in which our patients can earn points when those behaviors are noted. Patients are awarded points on visits if they maintain healthy lifestyle practices throughout their pregnancy.

With those points, they will be awarded items from The Helping Hands, a not-for-profit organization designed to provide quality clothing and household items to people in Terre Haute and surrounding areas.
