Statistics

Union Hospital provides care to over 45,000 patients per year. Approximately 6,000 patients (13.4%) per year are admitted as inpatients to the hospital. An additional 3,800 patients (8.6%) are placed in an Outpatient Holding bed for continued evaluation. Approximately 2% of the population treated in the department requires admission to the Critical Care units. During the past fiscal year, 24,000 patients were referred for x-ray services, 23,000 received lab services and nearly 9,100 patients received EKGs in the ER.

We see an average of approximately 135 patients per day. We have an average length of stay in the department of approximately 2 1/2 hours, based on the number of patients in the department and how sick those patients are.
