As a Union Hospital Health Group pharmacist, you will enjoy challenging practice opportunities in a professional, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Working at Union Hospital
At Union Hospital our primary focus is the inpatient setting, but you also will fill outpatient discharge prescriptions and employee prescriptions from a pharmacy satellite in the hospital lobby. We are a 24/7 pharmacy providing services to all classes of patients.
Union Hospital has an all-new USP797IV room, and our compounder is the latest model Baxa 240 automated IV compounder. Our pharmacists work in a highly automated environment with equipment that includes the e-MAR electronic medical record system, Pyxis System 3000, Pyxis Connect pharmacy order imaging, Pyxis CII Safe, Pyxis ParX (Pyxis replenishment using bar codes) and Pyxis Cubie Replenishing Station. Union Hospital is moving toward the use of smart IV pumps at the bedside, and we expect to have bedside bar code reading for medications and IVs in place by early 2007.
Union Hospital’s pharmacy is fully Unit Dose and has a full IV Admixture service. We utilize a separate USP797 negative pressure chemotherapy mixing room. Our full range of clinical services includes therapeutic dosing, patient monitoring, DUE and ADR monitoring, as well as patient safety initiatives.
Working at West Central Community Hospital
At West Central Community Hospital, the pharmacy is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends, providing services for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Our pharmacists serve the ER and both inpatient and outpatients as they are treated in the hospital. The pharmacy utilizes Siemens Pharmacy, Pyxis System 3000, Pyxis Connect pharmacy order imaging, Pyxis CII Safe, Pyxis Cubie and pharmacy-generated MAR/IVAR. (Many of our systems are currently being installed or upgraded.)
In addition, we have the latest model Nu Aire hoods for mixing IV and Chemotherapy under USP797 standards. We expect to have bedside bar code reading for medications and IVs in place by 2008.
