Community Global Engagement Awards
4/27/2009 Terre Haute, Indiana
Union Hospital and the Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health were recently honored by Indiana State University at the
2009 International Awards Banquet.
The banquet, held April 27 at Tirey Hall on the ISU campus, highlighted the important international contributions of
organizations in the Terre Haute community and celebrated the expanding efforts toward globalization in the Wabash Valley.
Union Hospital and the Lugar Center received the Community Global Engagement Award. This award is given to organizations
that have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing global awareness and fostering global initiatives.
One reason the Lugar Center was selected to receive the award was due to its commitment to reach out to developing
nations to explore assisting them in establishing health education programs with emphasis on rural health.
Union Hospital has also shown a commitment to global partnership by celebrating the international dimensions of the
Wabash Valley with events such as the Colors of our Community Cultural Fair.
